About Me
I started boating in 2005 at an outdoor activity centre on the Blackwater Estuary in Tollesbury. I did my RYA dinghy sailing level 2 then decided sailing wasnt for me. It was when they first asked me to crew the safety boats (a Humber RIB, a Porter RIB and a ‘Jaffa’) that my love for powered craft developed.
I am the Assistant Bosun at Nottinghamshire County Sailing Club and ensure their 9 Powerboats are kept in safe running order, performing tube and hull repairs and engine servicing. They use a mix of RIBs Rigiflex 360 Pioner Multi and an Arvor 215S committee boat.
I provide safety cover commercially at water events as I hold an RYA Safety Boat certificate.
When I am not on the water I run an IT Services Provider, work as a cloud consultant, as well as spending time with my young family.
I am available to work for RYA Training Centres on a freelance basis teaching the below courses. I travel within 3.5 hours of nottighamshire.
My 10 year goal is to be heavily involved with, or have my own RYA training centre 🙂
Marine Qualifications
Since I started powerboating I have worked hard to consolidate my experience into qualifications.
I am currently an RYA Advanced Commercial Power Boat Instructor (APBI) with Safety Boat certificate, an RYA PWC Instructor and an RYA Shorebased Instructor (VHF SRC and Navigation)
I can teach PB1 and 2, Safety Boat, Intermediate Powerboat, Advanced Powerboat, PWC Proficiency, VHF SRC as well as Essential Navigation, Dayskipper Shorebased and Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Shorebased. courses. I also run Advanced Powerboat CoC Prep days.
I have my Advanced Powerboat certitifcate and my Advanced Power Boat CoC qualification with Commercial endorsement and am available to work commercially for boat trips, safety cover, refresher courses etc
I am hoping to pair with some commercial schools to gain and further my skills and establish a good business relationship. I am available to work for RYA Training Centres on a freelance basis teaching the above. I am trying to build miles in motor cruisers and am available as delivery crew.
